Kick Start is a CAP (Christians Against Poverty) initiative, designed for churches to help people with a range of life issues, covering Mental Health and Wellbeing, Employment and Finance. In addition there is material to help with the emotional impact of the Pandemic. In all, nine bitesize sessions of 40 minutes can be offered using the Zoom platform. Each session has video input, group discussion and activities and offers additional support from the team and links with other organisations. There was encouraging positive feedback from a pilot course run in the autumn.

Both St Philp’s and St John’s are open on Sunday mornings – see the services pages for details.
Covid restrictions are in place for social distancing etc. and you must wear a face covering.
We are hoping that both churches will reopen for Sunday services in the coming months.
This will likely start with St Philip’s service at 9:30 am, St John’s at 11:00 am.
Please see our services page for more details.
Following advice from the Church of England, we have to suspend our services of public worship for the time being.
Please bear with us as we go through this difficult time together.
We will be producing some printed daily prayers and will be live-streaming some events from the churches as we are able.
We will be starting this year’s Lent Course on Tuesday 3rd March at 7 pm.
This will run for 6 weeks (until Easter) every Tuesday at St Philip’s.
We will be using the diocesan Lent Book for 2020, ‘Saying Yes To Life’ by Ruth Valerio. It would help to have a copy of this, but it’s not essential and you can attend the course with or without it. The book explores what it means to be a follower of Jesus and make a difference for good in the light of Genesis 1. The book is also the Archbishop of Canterbury’s 2020 Lent book.
On Ash Wednesday, 26th February 2020, we will be holding a service at St Philip’s at 6pm.
This will be a service of Holy Communion, also with the opportunity to receive the imposition of ashes (a cross on the forehead.)
You can watch the service of Thanksgiving For the Life of Margery Atherton HERE
